Well made laptop stand, that is not as slippery as reviewed July 15, 2010 Steven W. Graff (Aptos, CA) When brand new, I did find there was some slippage as others here have reported. However, once I cleaned both the stand and the bottom of the laptop with glass cleaner the slippage was immediately eliminated and I now have no problem with any of the laptops I place on the stand (13" and 17" MacBookPro and MacBook). I chalk the problem up to the typical film that coats most new products these days and the dust and crumbs that come from everyday use of a laptop in coffee shops and kitchen tables.
I find the stand to be a solid platform at just the right height to reduce eye and neck strain and find it aligns just right with most adjustable height monitors.
Solid, elegant, affordable. July 1, 2010 Alan Rosenblum (San Diego, CA USA) I am very pleased with this product, I intend to buy several for my home recording studio as well.
Perfect for amateur musicians! May 29, 2010 Dennis G. Gerber (Santa Clara, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a rather small desk that I've got to fit a lot of stuff on and this gave me the space and lift that I needed. It lifts my macbook up so it hovers right above my m-audio keystudio at perfect viewing height and my usb guitar interface fits neatly underneath. Add the rolling shelf under the desk for mouse and keyboard and you've got a very functional, very attractive and very compact little amateur recording setup! Just a couple things to consider though: First, ONLY get this if you plan on either using while standing (e.g. DJs) or using a separate mouse and keyboard because it raises the computer too high to type on comfortably while sitting at your desk. Second, it is not at all adjustable and while it works perfectly for my needs, make sure to measure out your space before you buy. Here are some more useable dimensions then the ones provided by amazon: L(top) 10" x L(bottom) 8.75" x W 10.6" x H(front) 4.5" x H(back) 5.75"
PS. Since they added the caps at the end of the arms where the laptop sits, there is no way the computer is going to slide off. With this new feature, all the old negative reviews about slippage are now moot.
I like it March 30, 2010 Daniel Roberts (Santa Rosa, Ca. USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was looking for a stand for my HP 17" laptop & liked the styling of this one. So, despite some negative reviews, I purchased one. It is nice to see a stand that uses real metal(aluminum) and clear plastic. It goes together easily. I don't use it to type on,I have a separate keyboard, and it would probably be a bit unstable for typing. One great feature is that it is easily disassembled for travel and fits in my laptop case. A feature I had not thought of is that in a Powerpoint presentation, as the laptop is on the table, I can use the stand to hold my notes binder. I bought another one for my other office so I guess I like them a lot. No problems with slippage, the plastic ends work fine.
Great for Dee Jays! March 22, 2010 D. V. Moye (Raleigh, NC) I bought this for my boyfriend who is a DJ. He loves it because he doesn't have to bend over so much to use his laptop when he's working! He's had no problem with his laptop staying on the stand. He uses an Apple computer.
